Animate Healing

We recognize the immense difficulty humans are facing in creating a life culture that truly supports our vitality and biological potential. This is why we exist. We are here to create more ease in your life—more connection, joy and vitality.

Animate healing is available to every human simply though the recognition that we are all connected because all things are embedded within the matrix of life. In order to receive nourishment and be in a practice of animate healing all you must do is acknowledge your relationship with with life and choose to keep recognizing all as a part of the whole on a regular basis.

How can we help with this?

We host in person retreats and other offerings which create the ideal environment for communion with your inner worlds and the mysteries of life, earth and beyond.

We utilize both ancient and contemporary understandings, techniques and practices to support you on your personal mission.

From here you can begin to further develop your own unique relationship and understandings of your self and life.

You will also begin to connect with a wider community with similar values and understandings who can provide companionship, resources and more.

What are healing arts?

In my understanding, there are two distinct ways to understand the healing arts.

Healing, through its etymological roots, can be understood as coming back to wholeness. The arts are an expression of life force and creativity. The healing arts, therefore, are how we come back into wholeness—meaning we are honoring all parts of ourselves— through creative expression and art.

The other way to understand the healing arts is as the artful or creative application of healing modalities.

The work offered through Animate Healing meets at this junction.

What does is animate healing ?

Animism is an orientation to life that understands all things as expressions of Creator, God, Spirit, or Source—woven into the living matrix of existence. Animism recognizes all things as alive, with the capacity for sentience. This understanding is humanity’s oldest spiritual orientation and remains the predominant spiritual worldview among Indigenous cultures worldwide.

Animate Healing, therefore, is the process of healing that occurs when we reconnect ourselves to this ancient understanding of life.

Animate Healing is the name of this particular creation because it best describes what we are doing. It is not, however, a proprietary modality. The term animism was first coined by Edward Burnett Tylor (1871), derived from the Latin anima, meaning “breath,” “spirit,” or “life.” The word is simply a symbol for something that exists far beyond language, and yet is the source of language itself.

No one owns or can be credited with this line of inquiry or understanding. It is simply one way of expressing an ancient and ever-present orientation to life. It can be said, however, that intact Indigenous cultures worldwide continue to hold the torch of understanding through centuries of systematic erasure and oppression of earth based spiritual practices. Though animism nourishes the roots of all human spirituality, it is important to remember the immense gravity and hardship faced by peoples who continue to practice intact animistic traditions despite these historical and ongoing challenges.

The revival of land-based spiritual practice emerging in Europe, which were systematically erased over the past 1000 years and beyond is, in large part, possible because of what so many cultures have fought for and preserved. For many of European and other diasporic origins, our living memory of earth-based traditions is limited.

In my personal journey, much of this remembering has unfolded through the use of psilocybin mushrooms, ancestral healing, and direct guidance from ceremonial traditions of the so-called “Americas,” with which I am in long-term apprenticeship. I acknowledge these living traditions as the keepers of what much of the world has forgotten. My gratitude for these blessings is immense.

We understand intimately that healing occurs once we reconnect our awareness to this animate web of life. In this place, we find that we are never alone, we have companions everywhere. We are in constant relationship with the elements as they present on an energetic, atomic and ecological level through the wind, soil, fire and waters. The billions of cells and bacteria within and around our bodies, our organs, our own and all surrounding organisms all in their respective ecosystems and beyond. We are in an infinite relationship with all of life, always.

It is my deepest prayer that through this remembrance and reconnection, we can remedy much of the disease humanity, and therefore the Earth, is facing. May this remembering serve as medicine for both people and planet, guiding us back into the living conversation with all that is.
